LAYOFFS: NO LOVE AT COSTA DEL MAR

Am I Next? Layoffs at Costa Del Mar.

Daytona Beach, Florida-based Costa Del Mar, a manufacturer of polarized sunglasses owned by EssilorLuxottica, has announced that they will restructure their Daytona Beach, Florida operations, retaining sales and marketing function, and laying off approximately 295 employees in 2020, with eight phases commencing in February 7, 2020 and scheduled for completion by September 30, 2020. Affected functions include management, shipping, customer support, finance department, and repairs and returns.

According to a company spokesperson, the decision was driven by “changing business needs” and would not comment further. There is no word about the company’s future headquarters that was scheduled for occupancy later in 2020. It is believed that internal struggles to implement cost-cutting by the parent corporation, the largest eyeglasses company in the world may be driving restructuring activities.

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
