Am I Next? Layoffs at Integrated Manufacturing & Assembly.

Berne, Indiana-based Integrated Manufacturing & Assembly, an automotive seating systems and interior trim manufacturer, has announced the layoff of 175 employees at its Detroit, Michigan facility. The decision appears to be driven by “program loss,” widely believed to have been triggered by General Motor’s announcement that it was cutting back production of certain vehicles, closing facilities, and laying off workers. The company is a subsidiary of Southfield, Michigan-based Comer Holdings in a joint venture with the Southfield, Michigan-based Lear Corporation. Jimmie E. Comer, the President & CEO of Comer Holdings LLC was previously worked at Lear in various executive capacities including as Lear's former president of North American joint ventures and diversity.
