AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT HONEYWELL AEROSPACE (01/03/20)

Am I Next? 170 layoffs as Honeywell Aerospace leaves Albuquerque, New Mexico.

JANUARY 3, 2020 — 90 EMPLOYEES TO BE LAID OFF IN GOLDEN VALLEY, MINNESOTA

Charlotte, North Carolina-based Honeywell International, a multi-national producer of commercial and consumer products, engineering services and aerospace systems, has announced that the company is laying off 90 aerospace fabrication workers in Golden Valley, Minnesota between February 24, 2020 and March 9, 2020.

The decision is driven by the closure of the aerospace division office because of a lease expiration. The division is transferring the work to a company location in Urbana, Ohio.

Originally the plan was to layoff 120 employees, but 30 employees have already left the company. According to a company spokesperson, “We realize this change, unfortunately, affects valued employees. We’ve provided employees with extensive notice as this transition will take approximately one year to complete.

Phoenix, Arizona-based Honeywell Aerospace, an aircraft products manufacturer, has announced that the company is moving its engineering and manufacturing operations out of Albuquerque, New Mexico and transferring operations to other Honeywell facilities located in in Phoenix, Arizona, Clearwater, Florida, and Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. The move will be initiated on September 30, 2019 and be completed by the end of 2019. Approximately 170 employees are scheduled to be laid off.

The transition was widely publicized in November, 2018 with a company spokesperson noting, “Honeywell has decided to move manufacturing and engineering operations from Albuquerque to other U.S. facilities by the end of next year. This is not a decision we made lightly as we realize this, unfortunately, affects valued employees.”

That includes moving much of the division’s equipment in Albuquerque to Honeywell facilities in Arizona.”

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening.
