AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT LIBERTY STEEL USA

Am I Next? Liberty Steel USA mill shutdown.

New York, New York-based Liberty Steel USA, a vertically-integrated (recycled scrap to finished product) steel manufacturer of wire rod products, has announced that the company will be permanently shutter its Georgetown, South Carolina mill, laying off 100+ employees by the end of 2020. All of the aging mill's mill's operations have been transferred to Liberty's mill in Peoria, Illinois."

The facility had been idled since earlier in the year in response to declining business. At that time, a company spokesperson noted, "After an assessment of market conditions in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Liberty Steel Group has decided to idle its Georgetown steelworks for an initial period of three months. The facility is being placed under a "care and maintenance regime." which they say will allow it to be reopened "swiftly" once the economy improves.

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
