Milpitas, California-based FireEye, a full-services cybersecurity company, continues to execute a 2019 restructuring program in response to redeploy capital savings into new areas and replace aging products with cloud-based services. The layoffs will impact approximately 204 employees.
FireEye CEO Kevin Mandia noted...
"We initiated a restructuring plan designed to enable us to increase investment in the growth areas of our business and position the company for improved operating performance. To be clear, planning was in motion long before the coronavirus outbreak.
The restructuring includes a reduction of approximately 6% of the company's workforce, primarily in the mature appliance-based product areas.
While there is never an ideal time for this type of action, I believe it was necessary for us to take the steps now to continue to transform our business into a comprehensive Security-as-a-Service company."
