AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT LIFETIME HEALTH CLUBS

Am I Next? Lifetime in trouble

Chanhassen, Minnesota-based LifeTime, owner/operator of health clubs and fitness centers, has announced a reduction in force affecting 301 employees, 250 from Chanhassen corporate headquarters, and 51 from the company's millwork facility in Chaska, Minnesota that builds and maintains lockers and cabinetry. The layoffs are scheduled to commence on August 19, 2020.

The decision was driven by the involuntary closure of gyms and fitness facilities as a result of the COVD-19 pandemic.

A company spokesperson noted, “These shutdowns inflicted considerable negative financial impact on our company, along with the suspension of nearly four years of new club and business development. Additionally, it may take some months before membership growth and traffic resume to normal levels”

“With this unforeseen business interruption and impact, we have implemented difficult, but necessary, action to reduce our operating expenses, including a 1 percent reduction in our total workforce. The vast majority of this impact is in our real estate, architecture, and construction departments given the temporary suspension of new club and business development.”

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
