Hartsville, South Carolina-based Sonoco Products Company, a manufacturer of packaging products for consumer, industrial, protective, and healthcare industries, announced that it will be permanently closing its Wilson plastic molding facility in Wilson, North Carolina by September 30, 2021. The closure will affect 138 employees. The Wilson facility was a satellite operation for the company's larger Plant City, Florida facility.

According to a company statement, "The closure of the Wilson Plastics facility is due to historically declining volumes, exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic. Forecasted sales did not support maintaining the Wilson facility. We will be consolidating production from Wilson to our other facilities in the Southeast with existing open capacity."

Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
