Sunrise, Florida-BASED Mednax Services, a medical personnel staffing group that provides specialists and support personnel to hospitals, health systems and health care facilities offering women's and children's care across more than 24 specialties, has announced a reduction in force for those working or reporting to its Sunrise, Florida headquarters.
The reduction in force will affect 671 employees and is scheduled to commence on October 31, 2021.
The decision was driven by the outsourcing of Mednax's revenue cycle management operations (billing, collections, reporting) to a third-party vendor, Murray, Utah-based R1RCM Inc, specializing in state-of-the-art, end-to-end Revenue Cycle technology..
On July 14, 2021, CVS Aetna voluntarily dismissed its 2018 litigation with Mednax which alleged "the multispecialty medical group of exaggerating the severity of newborns' clinical conditions, resulting in unnecessary tests and overbilling the insurer by $50 million."
