AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT IAC DOTDASH (01/26/23)

JANUARY 26, 2023 — 7% OF THE WORKFORCE, 274 LAYOFFS

Dotdash Meredith CEO Neil Vogel announced, “We are not immune to the broader challenges of the ad industry and of the economy as a whole, and today’s actions are a direct response to these realities.”

“With the difficult market environment and economic uncertainty that lie ahead, we must prioritize our biggest opportunities and make sure we have the proper cost structure in place to pursue them. Today’s actions provide for the most effective and focused use of our resources and put us in a position of strength as we look toward the future.”

“These decisions are difficult, and it is hard to see friends and colleagues depart,” Vogel said in the email. “We are grateful to those leaving the company, whose effort and talent have been significant contributors to our business.”

New York, New York-based Dotdash, a subsidiary of Barry Diller's InterActive Corp. and the number one digital and print publisher in the United States, has announced that it will cease the print production of six magazines including Entertainment Weekly and InStyle as part of its continuing transformation to a digital enterprise.

The transition from print to digital will impact 200 employees as the April issues of all six magazines would be their final print editions.

The job losses represent less than 5% of the company's workforce and are a consequence of Dotdash's acquisition of the Meredith Corporation.

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
