APRIL 12, 2023 — 100 EMPLOYEES TARGETED IN McKINNEY, TEXAS

The company has announced that it will be relocating a portion of its Custom Brands Group operations in McKinney, Texas to its facility in Agua Prieta, Mexico. The move will impact 100 employees and layoffs will be effective on July 14, 2023.

According to the company, “We greatly value the contribution of all our employees and sincerely regret the impact this step will have on them. The decision is in no way a reflection on the performance of any of the dedicated employees at the McKinney facility.”

According to published reports, approximately 560 employees are impacted at plants in Sacramento, California, Jacksonville, Florida, and Cumberland, Maryland.

MARCH 16, 2023 — PLANT CLOSURES IN BESSEMER CITY, NORTH CAROLINA, CUMBERLAND, MARYLAND, AND JACKSON VILLE, FLORIDA.

The closure of the company’s Bessemer City, North Carolina manufacturing and distribution facility at the end of August 2023 will impact 135 employees commencing on June 1, 2023.

The closure of the company’s Cumberland, Maryland manufacturing facility at the end of July 28, 2023, will impact 361 employees.

An affiliated company, Custom Brands Group, will close its Jacksonville, Florida facility which will impact 79 employees.

A 75% controlling interest in Hunter Douglass was purchased by New York City, New York-based 3G Capital in February 2022 for $7.1 billion.

Pearl River, New York-based Hunter Douglas North America, the leading manufacturer of commercial and residential window treatments (Blinds, Shades, Shutters, and Drapery), architectural products, and smart window controllers, has announced the permanent closure of its 208,000-square-foot West Sacramento, California manufacturing and warehouse facility.

The closure will impact 122 employees and is expected to be completed by December 31, 2022. The customer support team working at the facility is being transitioned to telecommuting.

According to a company spokesperson, “After careful consideration, Hunter Douglas has decided to consolidate its West Sacramento fabrication operations with another, out-of-state company-owned facility. Hunter Douglas North America continually evaluates its business strategy for both competitiveness and market leadership and evolves its operations to achieve this strategy. At times, this process can present difficult decisions, but such changes are necessary to meet consumer demands."
