AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT EDUCATIONWORKS

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based EducationWorks, a publicly funded nonprofit provider of after-school programs and in-school support services to under-resourced urban schools in New Jersey, has announced major operational issues following the untimely death of Miles H. Wilson, chief executive officer of EducationWorks.

Financial issues apparently lead to the layoff of 133 employees and the cessation of activities at a number of schools.

According to a statement from EducationWorks interim board chair Marc Orlow, “We were forced into this position because we are awaiting significant payment for services already rendered to local and State providers.”

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
