AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT HELP AT HOME

Chicago, Illinois-based Help at Home, a provider of in-home care services, has announced that it is leaving the Alabama marketplace due to the State's refusal to expand Medicaid.

The withdrawal will impact 785 employees situated throughout the state and will commence effective November 4, 2023. The State's annual Medicaid contracts will expire on September 30, 2023.

According to a company spokesperson, “The current reimbursement and regulatory environment for Medicaid-funded home care has made it difficult to recruit, hire and retain workforce and we have not been able to overcome these challenges in the state of Alabama.”

"Alabama is one of 10 states that hasn’t accepted federal funding to expand its Medicaid coverage under the Affordable Care Act and has some of the strictest income-based eligibility requirements in the country."

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
