AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT OHIOHEALTH

Columbus, Ohio-based OhioHealth, a not-for-profit system of hospitals and healthcare providers, has announced the outsourcing of its revenue cycle management to a third-party vendor which will result in a major reduction in force.

637 employees will be laid off. 567 IT employees will be impacted as IT is outsourced to Chicago, Illinois-based Accenture, and the remainder in revenue cycle management (billing, coding, and accounts receivable) will be impacted as operations are transferred to Washington, DC-based AGS Health. Revenue cycle employees will be separated on November 4, 2022. IT separations are scheduled for January 3, 2023.

According to a company spokesperson, β€œTo continue to be a leading healthcare system committed to providing the best possible patient experience, we have made the decision to engage external partners to provide some services that we currently provide in-house. Healthcare is transforming, and we need to constantly look for the best ways to invest in technology and processes that allow us to best serve our customers. As the expectations of our customers change, we must also change."

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
