AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT HALL CHINA

Fiesta Tableware to close Hall China in Ohio.

Newell, West Virginia-based Fiesta Tableware Company, a retail-only tabletop and giftware manufacturer, has announced that it will permanently close Hall China, a pottery manufacturer located in East Liverpool, Ohio. The closure impacts 59 and 21 temporarily laid-off employees from this facility will not be recalled. The layoffs will commence February 11, 2021.

However, the company said, jobs will be available soon at its Newell facility and these employees are strongly encouraged to apply. Some positions are open immediately.

According to a company spokesperson, “The prolonged impact of COVID-19 on our business has caused us to make some difficult staffing and operational decisions. The closure of Hall China will enable Fiesta to reduce overhead by consolidating resources into one main facility. Various equipment will be moved to the main production headquarters in Newell."

"This physical consolidation will enable our manufacturing process to function more quickly and efficiently providing all the same iconic product lines. We’ll be able to increase our production rates and provide a faster turnaround, which is crucial in today’s demanding consumer landscape."

“This facility has been a longstanding fixture in our community and an innovator of American pottery since 1903,” McIlvain said. “We’ll continue to honor the legacy through the knowledge and craftsmanship that has been passed along to the Fiesta Tableware Co. through the consolidation of the plants locally and continued operations in the Tri-State Area.”

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
