Miami, Florida-based Crystal Cruises, an international cruise operator of luxury vessels, has announced that it is under federal scrutiny and is winding down operations.

The company has closed its Miami, Florida office and laid off all 238 employees, including executives and supervisors.

According to a company spokesperson, “We are taking the action because we will be undertaking an assignment for the benefit of creditors, or seeking similar relief.”

Crystal Crises is part of the Genting Hong Kong Corporation, which has filed for bankruptcy. The company owns Crystal Cruises, Dream Cruises, and Star Cruises as well as resorts and other enterprises,

Freeport, New York-based, North Shore Linen, a linen and uniform rental service provider to the hospitality industry, has announced the permanent closure of its business and the sale of its two business properties in Freeport.

The closure will impact 111 unionized employees and is expected to occur on February 24, 2022.

With the impact of the pandemic, many restaurants and uniform-wearing companies have closed or severely curtailed their activities.

Bethesda, Maryland-based Marriott Hotel Services, the iconic hospitality company that owns, operates, franchises, and licenses lodging including hotel, residential, and timeshare properties, has announced that the company will cease operating a hotel property in Cleveland, Ohio due to a termination of its hotel management agreement.

The contract termination will affect all 109 Marriott employees located at the Cleveland, Ohio hotel with layoffs occurring between December 14, 2021, and December 27, 2021.

According to a statement issued by Marriott, the hotel owner has agreed to enter into a long-term contract for the hotel to operate as a Marriott franchise hotel that will be managed by the Pyramid Hotel Group.
