AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT CALIBRATE HEALTH

New York, New York-based Calibrate Health, a digital health platform that connects patients with obesity specialists who can prescribe necessary medications and coaches who can help patients make lifestyle changes, has announced a business model pivot and an 18% reduction in its current workforce.

The reduction in force will impact 89 employees and comes after a round of layoffs that impacted 24% of its workforce, or 156 employees, in July 2022.

The company will pivot from individual relationships to enterprise relationships that provide services to their employees to counter increasing competition in the obesity drug space.

According to a company spokesperson, “Calibrate is accelerating our transformation into an Enterprise-first business. We will continue to grow our direct-to-consumer business responsibly.”

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?

New York, New York-based Noom.com, a subscription-based wellness app for tracking a person's food intake and exercise habits, has announced that the company will be executing a "strategy pivot" in its personal coaching model. Moving from text-based coaching to video coaching.

The pivot, described as "an evolution to the coaching model," has seen a major 25% reduction in its coaching staff that involved 495 individuals.

According to a company spokesperson, "This decision was not made lightly, but it was made with the future vision of the coaching team and the long-term health of our business in mind. We are in a moment of change, and it is important that we evolve our coaching model to be more viable for the sake of the Noom mission, the long-term health of our business, and for the coaching team."

The company is not without its share of consumer complaints, some of which appear to have attracted both FTC and state attorney generals over its subscription cancellation process -- settling a lawsuit for $62 million, including $56 million in cash and $6 million in Noom subscription credits.
