Stamford, Connecticut-based Pitney Bowes, a manufacturer of mailing systems, has announced plans to eliminate its parcel delivery and returns operation at its 450,000-square-foot Greenwood, Indiana, fulfillment center.

Approximately 311 employees are impacted by the company's operational changes, including 240 full-time company employees, and 71 temporary workers. The parcel department will officially close on September 4, 2023, with the layoffs expected to take place from September 4, 2023, to September 18, 2023, as the company “winds down activities.”

According to a company spokesperson, "The company is shifting its parcel delivery and returns operation to two other Midwest hubs to more efficiently meet client demands and evolving market opportunities.”

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
