AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT DICK'S SPORTING GOODS

Coraopolis, Pennsylvania-based Dick’s Sporting Goods, a major retailer of athletic and recreational products, has announced a “business optimization” plan that features a cost-cutting initiative and a reduction in its workforce.

The reduction in force impacts 250 employees, mainly within its customer support center.

According to a company statement, "We are conducting a business optimization of our organization to better align our talent, organizational design, and spending in support of our most critical strategies while also streamlining our overall cost structure. As part of our review, we eliminated certain positions primarily at our customer support center.

"While the Company has not committed to specific additional actions at this time, it currently expects the business optimization to be completed during fiscal 2023.

It should be noted that a component of the company's revenue loss is a backlash to its participation in social justice programs that some customers find offensive and outside the purview of a retail establishment, namely allowing men to compete in women's athletics where the performance of a mediocre male athlete can be a record-setting performance in the woman's classification.

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
