AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT BELL TEXTRON

Fort Worth, Texas-based Bell Textron, an aerospace manufacturer of military and commercial helicopters, has announced a 3% reduction in its global workforce, specifically at sites in Fort Worth and Amarillo, Texas, and Wichita, Kansas, as well as mandatory furloughs.

The reduction in force affected 285 employees, primarily those working on the company's MV-75 Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) programs.

According to a company spokesperson, "The company must align staffing with lower revenue and lower costs for the long term. The company is also implementing a three-week furlough for certain staff as it aligns with market realities and the production transition to the military MV-75 aircraft. The layoffs were driven by federal funding and budget realities, not employee performance. These decisions are not a reflection of the team's value or the mission's importance. They are about ensuring we stay aligned to the program, protect long-term success, and position ourselves to deliver what matters most."

Change is constant, and it's coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT SUPERNAL

Irvine, California-based Supernal, a Hyundai Motor Group company developing eVTOL aircraft, has announced an 80% reduction in force at its California facilities, including its engineering headquarters, which serves as the hub for its air mobility engineering operations.

The reduction affected 296 employees, leaving approximately 80 employees to execute a long-term strategy for EV vertical-lift aircraft development.

According to a spokesperson, “This decision is a strategic pivot to ensure our staffing and cost structures are optimized for the long-term delivery of our market-aligned aircraft design. The Hyundai Motor Group remains committed to the Advanced Air Mobility business as part of its future mobility vision, and Supernal will continue to serve as the group’s dedicated AAM execution arm for aircraft development. Supernal’s focus “remains on stabilizing the company, shaping a new business model, and developing a commercially viable aircraft. All of the company’s work would be consolidated to its Irvine headquarters."

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT SPS TECHNOLOGIES

Jenkintown, Pennsylvania-based SPS Technologies, a developer, manufacturer, and global supplier of aerospace fasteners and fittings, has announced a major reduction in force .

The reduction in force will impact 250 employees. The decision was driven by a massive fire at its Glenside, Pennsylvania facility.

A company spokesman noted, "After intense analysis of what areas of the location were severely impacted, SPS Technologies has a clearer picture of our personnel needs. Regretfully, we will have to make employment adjustments to align with those product lines and volumes the Company can still support."
