AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT TRUECAR

Santa Monica, California-based TrueCar, a digital automotive platform that uses technology to help car buyers save time and money through a nationwide network of Certified Dealers, has announced a post-buyback organizational realignment as part of a comprehensive effort to refocus the company to restore profitability and focus on its core mission of saving customers time and money when shopping for a new car.

The reorganization will result in a 30% reduction in its workforce, approximately 120 employees.

According to a company statement, "The organizational changes follow an in-depth operational review following the completion of the company's go-private transaction. The new TrueCar senior leadership team met individually with every employee across the organization to understand each role and how it supports TrueCar's mission. Following that review, TrueCar is right-sizing the business to prioritize quality over quantity, profitability over growth-at-all-costs, and execution over expansion. These changes are necessary steps to build a sustainable organization and complete the turnaround of a historically unprofitable company."

Founder and CEO noted, "This is the hardest part of being a leader. We approached this thoughtfully and deliberately as a necessary step to refocus the company on its mission. As soon as I reacquired TrueCar, I personally met with every single team member to understand where the company is today so we can get on track to becoming a sustainable, mission-based company."

Change is constant, and it's coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT COMMUNITY WHOLESALE TIRE

Hazelwood, Missouri-based Community Wholesale Tire, one of the largest family-owned and operated tire distributors in the Midwest, has announced it will permanently close its two Hazelwood facilities, including its headquarters.

The closure will impact 143 employees, with layoffs scheduled for April 10, 2026.

While the company will close two facilities, it plans to remain a family operation and will continue operating its distribution facilities in Kansas City, Missouri; Springfield, Missouri; Peoria, Illinois; and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

According to published reports, "In connection with the shutdown, U.S. AutoForce LLC is set to acquire Community Wholesale Tire’s wholesale distribution assets in a transaction expected to close around April 2026. This suggests a strategic business reorganization rather than a full company liquidation."

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT DALTON CORPORATION

Warsaw, Indiana-based Dalton Corporation, a producer of iron castings for automotive, construction, agricultural, and other industries, has announced the permanent closure of its Warsaw, Indiana, foundry operation.

The closure will impact 262 employees through layoffs, commencing on February 27, 2026, and is expected to be completed by March 1, 2026.

It appears that the closure is connected to Dalton's parent corporation, Cleveland, Ohio-based First Brands Group, which filed for bankruptcy in September 2025 and is shutting down parts of its North American business after top lenders refused to provide additional funding.
