Am I Next? Oil and gas downturn costs jobs.

The Stupp Corporation has filed paperwork with the state announcing its intent to lay off hundreds of workers at its two plants in the Baton Rouge area next month.

Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based Stupp Corporation, a manufacturer of custom steel pipe, has announced that it will be laying off 375 employees at the company's two Baton Rouge locations. 300 at the pipe manufacturing facility and 75 in the coatings plant. The layoffs are planned for late-October 2020.

The primary driver of the reduction in force is the major downturn in the global oil and gas industry, a major consumer of steel pipe.
