Madison, Wisconsin-based CapTel, a division of Ultratec and a provider of phone captioning services for handicapped individuals has announced a major reduction in force, mainly impacting captioning assistants and supervisors who provide manual real-time captioning.

Approximately 274 employees, primarily 229 captioning assistants, with 246 employees located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and 28 employees located in Madison, Wisconsin. Separations are scheduled for September 20, 2022.

Additionally, 243 employees, including 221 captioning assistants, in Orlando, Florida, and 104 employees, including 89 captioning assistants in Tampa, Florida will be laid off. 110 employees will be laid off in Arlington, Texas.

The decision was driven by the company's release of a new technology that provides customers with a choice of receiving captions through a fully-automated Auto Captions service.

Chicago, Illinois Hologram, a technology company that creates platform software to connect IoT devices to any cellular network across the globe, has announced a reduction in force.

The reduction in force will impact 80 employees.

A company spokesperson noted, “While we continue to see growth for Hologram, macroeconomic market conditions have rapidly changed. As a result, we’ve made the tough decision to reduce the size of our team to optimize our resources, enabling us to sustainably grow while continuing to be the best partner for our customers. The decision to say goodbye to our colleagues was not easy, but it was in the best interest of the company. We are confident in Hologram’s vision and that the actions we have taken will best position the company to empower the growing number of innovators who are building the future through cellular connectivity for IoT devices.”

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based Comcast, a provider of cable and internet communications, has announced that it will be laying off 127 employees located at the company’s Livermore, California regional technician logistics center. According to a company spokesperson, “We are making some changes to our technical operations and supply chain processes. This includes consolidating some job functions and locations and also automating some processes so our technicians can best serve our customers. We will work with all impacted employees to evaluate their options, including helping them to find other positions within the company or providing outplacement assistance and severance.”
