AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT ENERSYS

Reading, Pennsylvania-based EnerSys, a provider of stored energy systems and battery technology, has announced an 11% reduction in its non-production global workforce as part of its strategic organizational realignment to support future growth.

The reduction in force will impact 575 employees, primarily corporate and management positions. The Company expects the separations to be substantially complete by the end of the second quarter of fiscal 2026.

CEO and President Shawn O’Connell noted, “Today’s actions, while difficult, are necessary for EnerSys to remain competitive in our markets. We’ve spent the past six months listening, evaluating, and testing how we can best serve our customers, deliver stronger returns, and build a more agile organization. This decision reflects our commitment to those priorities, ensuring we have the right structure in place to operate more efficiently, optimize cross-functional collaboration, and deliver even greater value - for our customers and shareholders. EnerSys is powered by an incredible team, and this decision in no way reflects the dedication or contributions of the individuals impacted. We are committed to supporting our employees through this transition with care and respect. This action is part of a strategic restructuring plan under the Company’s new leadership to better align resources with current business priorities and long-term objectives."

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT MOXION POWER

Richmond, California-based Moxion Power, a manufacturer of mobile battery solutions, has announced its cessation of operations.

The abrupt shutdown has impacted all 248 employees, including the C-suite, seven vice presidents, 10 directors, 18 battery associates, and a number of engineers, managers, and technicians.

According to co-founder and CEO Paul Huelskamp, “I’m writing to you this morning with a heavy heart. We have not found a path that will allow us to continue operations as Moxion Power Co., and effective today, we will be closing our doors. I know many of you are still wondering how we ended up here and are questioning the decisions that were made or could have been made that might have prevented this outcome. I wish there was a straightforward answer. What I can say is that Moxion was a bold vision, and you executed it perfectly.”

This follows the previous layoff of 101 employees in July 2024. At that time, Huelskamp claimed that those layoffs were meant to align the company’s workforce with “core business objectives and current growth forecasts." Adding, “Our priority now is to support those affected through this transition while ensuring long-term stability, growth, and profitability for Moxion. We are committed to maintaining our high standards of customer service and innovation and are confident that this decision will allow us to better serve our customers and partners and position us for continued success.”
