AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT GENENTECH

South San Francisco, California-based Genentech, the biotechnology research and drug manufacturing subsidiary of the Basel, Switzerland-based Roche Group, has announced a restructuring of its Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED) programs.

The restructuring will involve the closure of two research teams in physiological chemistry and infectious diseases and will impact 103 employees, mostly in professional scientific and technical service positions.

A company spokesperson noted, "It is important to emphasize that most of these are focused adjustments within Genentech impacting a small proportion of the organization, and we continue to hire within Genentech, including gRED. The company’s hiring approach reflects the capabilities, expertise, and areas of science that are most critical to advancing our portfolio and delivering transformative medicines to patients now and in the future.”

Change is constant, and it's coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
