Ridgefield Park, New Jersey-based Samsung SDS America, a cloud consulting and management provider of enterprise IT and logistics services, has announced a major reduction in force at its former Ridgefield Park regional headquarters, related to a restructuring and relocation to Plano, Texas.

The reduction will impact 179 employees and is scheduled to take effect on October 1, 2026.

According to a company spokesperson, “Samsung is undergoing a business transformation designed to better position our organization for long-term growth and future success. As part of this effort, we are relocating our US headquarters from New Jersey to our existing campus in Plano, Texas, building on our 30-year presence in the state.”

San Mateo-based Freshworks, a software technology developer of customer support software, has announced a 13% realignment and reduction in its workforce.

The reduction impacts 660 employees.

CEO Dennis Woodside said, " “There’s simply no good time to make a decision like this that affects people’s lives and it’s my responsibility to be transparent about how and why this decision was made. I am immensely grateful to those who will be leaving for their significant contributions to Freshwork. We believe this will help us accelerate our growth, free up resources for reinvestment, and simplify the way we work so that we are running Freshworks in a way that is efficient and scalable.”

"We began by combining teams focused on customer experience (CX) products, including support, sales, and marketing, and reallocating people and investments to prioritize our fastest growing employee experience (EX) business. These decisions were made thoughtfully and carefully to set a strong foundation for our future.”

This inaugural buyback program not only underscores the confidence we have in the durable and profitable growth of our business but also reinforces our commitment to delivering long-term shareholder returns.”

Mountain View, California-based Confluent, a managed cloud-service provider for connecting and processing data between databases, has announced an 8% reduction in its workforce to improve the company's path to profitability.

The reduction in force will impact 220 employees, with separations being completed in the Second Quarter.

Co-founder and CEO Jay Kreps noted, "Due to economic uncertainty, it's taking longer for the company to close sales, so its growth is slowing. At the same time, it's under increasing pressure to stem its losses."

"To many, I'm sure this news comes as a shock, though those following the broader tech ecosystem closely may be less surprised. Ultimately, we had optimized some aspects of our operations for a very different world than we found ourselves operating in. The responsibility for that falls squarely on me."
