Knoxville, Tennessee-based Southeast Service Corporation, a facilities services company specializing in providing custodial, campus, plant operations, and grounds management services to educational facilities, has announced a major reduction in force following the loss of a contract with Hamilton County Schools to New York, New York ABM (American Building Maintenance Industries).

The personnel realignment will impact 296 cleaners in Tennessee who work in Hamilton County schools. Separations are scheduled for May 31, 2025.

Port Chester, New York-based Chartwells, specialists in providing catering and hospitality services to educational institutions including high school cafeterias and university food-halls, has announced the loss of service contract with Florida-based Miami University.

The contract loss will impact 155 employees and discontinue food service operations at Miami University on May 31, 2022.

The university’s dining services will be provided by Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based Aramark commencing in June 2022.

Camden, New Jersey-based CDI (Comprehensive Decommissioning International), specializing in the decommissioning of nuclear power plants, has announced the layoff of 92 employees at the Oyster Creek nuclear power plant in Forked River, New Jersey. The layoffs are scheduled for August 1, 2021.

According to a company spokesperson, "The staff reductions were planned at the time of the plant's shutdown more than two years ago and were communicated to employees.

"This reduction of positions has always been part of our safe and efficient decommissioning strategy for Oyster Creek as our project evolves from nuclear-focused activities to a more industrial dismantlement and demolition project. Now that all of the used nuclear fuel has been safely moved from inside the Reactor Building to the Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI), our project focus will shift to the safe removal of buildings and structures."
