AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT ARMOR-IIMAK

Amherst, New York-based Armor-IIMAK, an inkjet and thermal transfer technology company specializing in thermal transfer ribbons, has announced a restructuring and the consolidation of its U.S. operations following a 2021 merger between Armor and IIMAK. The result will see the closure of its Amherst headquarters and manufacturing plant, and a relocation to a company-owned fluid ink and sales office located in Hebron, Kentucky.

The closure and relocation will affect 260 employees.

According to a company statement, “The company remains committed to supporting affected employees with, among other things, severance and job placement resources, while ensuring uninterrupted service to customers and an ongoing collaboration with local officials throughout the transition.”

Change is constant, and it's coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT SANDY ALEXANDER

Clifton, New Jersey-based Sandy Alexander, a commercial printing company offering digital, offset, and wide-format printing, has announced a mass reduction-in-force at its headquarters.

The reduction in force will affect 151 employees, with layoffs scheduled to begin around July 19, 2026.

This latest move isn’t happening in a vacuum—it’s part of a pattern of consolidation, downsizing, and retrenchment that’s been unfolding in the printing industry for some time as print production and mail distribution give way to digital offerings with electronic delivery.
