Charlotte, North Carolina-based Elior Group, a French multinational company that specializes in catering and food service, has announced a reduction in force due to losing its service contract with the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh. The company has chosen not to participate in the ongoing vendor selection process.
The reduction will impact 155 employees, beginning on May 17, 2026.
According to a statement, “Elior has chosen not to take part in the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh’s current, ongoing food services vendor selection process. The company’s contract was already set to conclude next spring. Elior’s decision will not affect UWO students, faculty or staff. UW-Oshkosh will have a new dining services provider in place next spring to ensure a smooth transition and uninterrupted service for our campus community and guests.”
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
