Secaucus, New Jersey-based Hudson Regional Health, a regional healthcare network owning and operating acute care hospitals and other facilities in New Jersey, has finalized its takeover of Bayonne Medical Center, now rebranded as Bayonne University Hospital, and has announced a major reduction in force.
The personnel realignment will impact 967 employees and is scheduled to take effect by June 29, 2026. While it appears this is a procedural event and employees will still have positions, it is unclear whether any layoffs will occur.
According to a company statement, “HRH has reassured staff this ongoing process currently involves a transfer of ownership, license, and operating business, which triggered a legal requirement of a WARN notice as Bayonne’s employees will be transitioned to HRH’s new ownership. Over the past 15 months, HRH has invested tens of millions of dollars to enhance care at Bayonne University Hospital and remains committed to advancing the hospital as a premier acute-care facility in the tri-state region."
Change is constant, and it's coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
