San Diego, California-based INDUS Technology, a defense and government services contractor providing life-cycle management, engineering, cybersecurity, integrated logistics, and IT services primarily to the Department of the Navy and other DoD agencies, has announced a reduction in force due to an expiring Navy contract that was awarded to an unspecified company.
The contract loss will impact 120 employees at two locations, including engineering technicians, logisticians, and electronics technicians located on the Kitsap Peninsula in Washington State. Layoffs are scheduled on September 14, 2026.
The two affected locations are for a division of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, which researches and develops submarines, torpedoes, and sonar systems, and the Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor Visitor Control Center.
According to a company statement, "The layoffs are due to the upcoming expiration of the current contract and the end of the associated performance period."
Change is constant, and it's coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
