AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT JBS USA

Greeley, Colorado-based JBS USA Holdings, a meat processing company and a wholly owned subsidiary of the Brazilian multinational JBS S.A., has announced it is closing two major meat processing facilities to restructure its manufacturing footprint and optimize its supply chains. Affected are a beef production plant in Souderton, Pennsylvania, and a value-added beef facility in Memphis, Tennessee.

The Souderton, Pennsylvania, closure impacts roughly 1,485 employees, and the Memphis, Tennessee, closure impacts 208 employees.

According to USA CEO Wesley Batista Filho, “These decisions are never easy because they directly affect our team members and the communities where we operate. We are deeply grateful to the team members at these facilities for their efforts and contributions over many years. Our focus right now is on supporting them with transparency, respect, and access to new opportunities wherever possible. JBS USA is investing heavily in the United States and in the future of food production. At the same time, we must ensure our operations are efficient, modern, and positioned to compete. By investing where we are growing and making difficult adjustments where needed, we are building a stronger and more resilient company.”

Change is constant, and it's coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
