AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT METROHEALTH SYSTEM

Cleveland, Ohio-based MetroHealth System, a regional, non-profit, public health care system, has announced a less than 1.5% reduction in force to stabilize its finances as it experiences an unprecedented surge in the cost of care it delivers

The reduction will impact 125 employees, mainly in administrative positions across the organization, ranging from senior leaders to entry-level hires

CEO Dr. Christine Alexander-Rager noted, “This has been a difficult day for our MetroHealth family. We made these decisions in response to significant financial challenges facing our system. Despite your hard work and steady growth in our volumes, MetroHealth’s expenses continue to outpace revenues. And that gap is growing. Our immediate goals are to ensure that we finish 2025 in a more stable position and – just as important – that we protect our ability to care for our patients. The moves will also give MetroHealth more flexibility for strategic investments in its infrastructure and services, ensuring the system can continue to meet the rising demand for care while also embracing innovation and maintaining long-term sustainability."

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
