AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT CUROLOGY

San Francisco, California-based Curology, a dermatologist-founded technology company offering direct-to-consumer prescription skin care via its computer platform, has announced a restructuring that will result in the closure of its San Diego office and lab facility by June 1, 2022.

Approximately 147 employees will be impacted, 91 employees in fulfillment, quality assurance, inventory and lab roles in San Diego, 39 employees in the company's San Francisco, California headquarters, and 17 remote workers outside California who will be separated between May 2022 and June 2022.

According to a company spokesperson, “The changes we’re making will allow us to be self-sufficient and profitable in the second half of 2022. We’re well poised to continue investing in our mission of making effective skincare accessible. We're beyond grateful to all of our employees, past and present, who have helped us get to this point.”

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT GLOSSIER

New York, New York-based Glossier, a direct marketing distributor of skincare, makeup, body care, and fragrances, has announced the layoff of 80 employees, mostly associated with its technology team.

According to a company spokesperson, "The company prioritized certain strategic projects that distracted us from the laser-focus we needed to have on our core business: scaling our beauty brand.

“We parted ways earlier today with more than 80 members of our team. This was a difficult but necessary decision. We’ve always been a people-powered organization, and are grateful to all of our current and former team members for their contributions to Glossier. We believe these changes leave us well-positioned as we continue to grow the brand long into the future.”

“We are shifting our technology strategy to leverage external partners for parts of our platform that we’re currently maintaining internally.”
