AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT BLOCKFI

Jersey City, New Jersey BlockFi, a financial services company specializing in crypto-based financial products and services, including a product to allow holders of cryptocurrencies to earn interest, has announced a reduction in force.

The reduction in force will impact 20% of the company's workforce, an estimated 150+ employees.

According to BlockFi CEO Zac Prince, "BlockFi has been hurt by the 'dramatic shift in macroeconomic conditions' which have had a 'negative impact' on growth."

No mention of the fines and penalties levied by federal and state regulators. The company is under scrutiny by regulators, including the Securities and Exchange Commission, and state regulators in Iowa, Texas, New Jersey, Alabama, Kentucky, and Vermont, alleging that BlockFi offered unlicensed securities at the state or federal level.

AM I NEXT? IS THE HANDWRITING ON THE WALL AT CITADEL?

JUNE 27, 2022 — CITADEL RELOCATING THEIR HEADQUARTERS FROM CHICAGO, ILLINOIS TO MIAMI, FLORIDA

Chicago, Illinois-based Citadel, a multi-billion dollar hedge fund, and Citadel Securities have announced their decision to relocate their headquarters from Chicago to Miami, Florida.

Both companies, with over 1,000 employees, are acceding to their founder billionaire Ken Griffin was motivated by Florida's business-friendly climate and tax advantages, and concerns about rising crime rates in Chicago.

According to a memo to Citadel employees Griffin wrote, "I am excited to have recently moved to Miami with my family and look forward to rapidly expanding Citadel in a city so rich in diversity and abounding with energy. Miami is a vibrant, growing metropolis that embodies the American Dream."

There is nothing unusual for a company to follow its founder or chief executive.

The timeline for the move is unclear, but the handwriting is on the wall for all low-level employees in easily replaced support positions.
