Williamstown, New Jersey-based Premier Glass USA, AKA PGP and Piramal Glass, a glass manufacturing, decorating, and packaging company providing glass packaging for the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and liquor industries, has announced the permanent closure of its Park Hills, Missouri glass manufacturing facility.
The closure will impact 243 employees scheduled to be laid off by March 31, 2022. A few warehouse employees are likely to be retained to fulfill remaining orders after that date.
According to a company spokesman, "The company made the decision to close its local glass production site after determining that the furnaces at the plant had reached the end of their useful life and would require rebuilding completely. The company leadership opted not to invest in rebuilding the furnaces, leading to the factory's closure."
PGP Glass USA, Inc. is the US subsidiary of Piramal Glass Private Limited, owned by New York equity investor Blackstone Capital.
