AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT ALINA HEALTH

Minneapolis, Minnesota-based Allina Health, a not-for-profit healthcare system that owns or operates 12 hospitals and more than 90 clinics throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin, has announced a cost-cutting initiative and a reduction in force.

The personnel realignment will impact 350 employees companywide.

According to CEO Lisa Shannon, “I know that for many of you, there is a disconnect on how people are feeling against this information. It's not what you experience every day. We are extremely busy. So how can we be losing money?” Simply put, it comes down to our expenses which continue to outpace our revenues. We're experiencing higher costs across the board for supplies and labor, and we continue to get paid less for the care that we provide."

"Allina Health has tremendous gratitude for all of our team members, including those leaving our organization. Employees who are part of this labor reduction will be offered severance, health benefits, and outplacement resources.”

“I know this decision is difficult for all of us, especially those that are impacted. While redactions will be occurring systemwide, we will continue to prioritize our caregiving roles, which are essential to our ability to serve the community.”

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?

"These changes will equip the company for the future and pave a strong path to profitability. We’re deeply grateful for the employees we said goodbye to and are committed to supporting them through this time of transition,"

"The company had underestimated how much the current economic environment would affect consumer behavior but remained committed to being cash-flow positive in 2024 so that we aren’t reliant on outside funding to serve our members.”
