AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT SPRING VENTURE GROUP

Kansas City, Missouri-based Spring Venture Group, a consumer sales and marketing technology company specializing in online insurance comparison shopping, has confirmed 290 employees were laid off, including 197 employees located in Kansas City.

According to CEO Chris Giuliani, "We value every person at Spring Venture Group and the contributions each makes, so it's especially difficult to go through a restructuring. Moving forward, this restructuring will better align our organization with the demands of a highly competitive marketplace and allow us to continue executing our growth strategy to ensure the long-term health of our business as the Medicare market continues to grow rapidly. But these decisions are not easy, and it's emotional for those still with us and those that are not."

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT PROGRESSIVE CASUALTY INSURANCE

Mayfield Village, Ohio-based Progressive Casualty Insurance, the third-largest insurance carrier and the No. 1 commercial auto insurer in the United States, has announced it is permanently eliminating its Commercial Auto Insurance Procedure (CAIP) group located in Mayfield Village.

The layoffs will impact 76 employees whose last day of employment will be December 31, 2021.

According to a company statement filed with the State of Ohio, " This job elimination is taking place as a result of the expiration of third-party contracts pursuant to which the affected employees have performed services for the past several years. The nonrenewal of this contract was announced to the CAIP group in January 2020. "

The remaining "employees who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will pay a $25 surcharge per paycheck, or $650 for the year commencing January 2022. The company is justifying the surcharge by noting, "At this point in the pandemic, we know that unvaccinated individuals are 29 times more likely to be hospitalized with COVID. The average cost of these hospitalizations covered on our medical plan has been $72,000 and we’ve had several that amounted to hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical claims. In total, our medical plan has incurred over $25 million in COVID-related claims.

The decision to demand its unvaccinated employees pay a surcharge was made by Progressive, who, 'as the insurance company, decides what expenses are covered, what the deductible and coinsurance will be and how much we pay in bi-weekly premiums.'”
