AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT NEXTDOOR (05/13/24)

MAY 13, 2024 — 25% REDUCTION IN FORCE

As part of a continuing cost reduction initiative, the company is targeting 25% of the company’s workforce for layoff.

Nextdoor CEO Sarah Friar noted, “This reduction in our team is the hardest decision we have had to make at Nextdoor. While our opportunity and belief in the transformative power of community remains unwavering, and our business is financially strong with a healthy balance sheet, we must follow through on our commitment to our shareholders. This means right-sizing our business and aligning our team and other expenses with our near-term revenue expectations. We expect that these actions will position us to reach quarterly free cash flow breakeven by the end of 2025.”

San Francisco, California-based Nextdoor, a hyperlocal social networking service for neighborhoods, has announced a major cost reduction initiative that will result in management changes and a reduction in the workforce.

The reduction will impact 200 employees or 25% of the company's workforce.

According to CEO Sarah Friar, “This reduction in our team is the hardest decision we have had to make at Nextdoor. While our opportunity and belief in the transformative power of community remains unwavering, and our business is financially strong with a healthy balance sheet, we must follow through on our commitment to our shareholders. Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT FAIRE

San Francisco, California-based Faire, an e-commerce wholesale marketplace platform that connects independent artisans and brands with local retailers, has announced its second restructuring following the restructuring in October 2023.

The restructuring will impact approximately 20% of the company's workforce or 250 employees.

According to a company spokesperson, "We built our former organizational structure with multiple layers of management to support our pace of hiring. When we slowed down hiring last year, naturally, we weren’t able to grow into that larger structure. Our focus remains on being able to consistently support our independent retailer customer community as a reliable partner well into the future. We're thankful for the team members who've contributed to Faire's success so far and are sad to part ways," the company said.”

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT LEPRINO FOODS

Denver, Colorado-based Leprino Foods, a food producer of cheese, lactose, whey protein, and sweet whey, has announced a plant restructuring in Remus, Michigan, that will shift the product line from producing string cheese to producing condensed milk starting in January 2024.

The product change will impact 100 employees as the string cheese production will shift to the company's plant in Fort Morgan, Colorado, which has excess capacity.

According to a company spokesperson, "Leprino continually assesses and evaluates our manufacturing network to ensure optimization and to allow us to better meet current and future production needs, as well as the evolving needs of our customers.”

“We do not take this decision lightly, nor do we underestimate how this will impact those affected by this change and the Remus community. We will work diligently with employees and the community during this transition."
