AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT REALFI HOME FUNDING CORP

White Plains, New York-based RealFi Home Funding Corp, a technology-driven residential mortgage originator, reportedly has executed a mass reduction in force and stiffed its employees as it struggles with legal problems, reduced origination volumes, high interest rates, and problems with its wholesale credit lines.

Employees received an email on December 28, 2023, from Chief Operating Officer Jodi Mosiello, noting that RealFi was unable to honor its commitment to pay the owed salaries due to unprecedented circumstances. “Unfortunately, at the present time, RealFi does not have the funds to pay the monies owed to its employees. As money comes in during the restructuring, it is RealFi’s intention to make all employees whole.”

Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin-based Johnsonville, a food manufacturer specializing in sausages, has announced the closure of its Meadowside fully-cooked sausage plant in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, by the end of 2024. Layoffs will commence in June 2024.

The closure will impact 390 Meadowside employees. The decision was driven by the acquisition of Salm Partners of Denmark, Wisconsin which produces fully-cooked ready-to-eat sausage products in their two plants. Meadowside production will be shifted to the Denmark, Wisconsin location.

According to CEO Don Fussner, While this acquisition is key to the long-term success of our RTE sausage business – and the larger fully cooked sausage category in general – it’s not lost on us how a plant closing is distressing for our Members to hear. We value their contributions and expertise, and we are working diligently to retain as many of our valued Members as we can in other roles here in Sheboygan Falls and across our manufacturing network. In addition, those employees who remain with Johnsonville through June will receive a stay-on bonus. Johnsonville will also work to retain as many employees as possible in its Sheboygan Falls production positions – and across its other production facilities – when Meadowside production ceases."

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT FRONTDESK

Am I Next? Layoffs at Frontdesk.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based Frontdesk, a short-term rental provider that offers fully furnished apartments for lease, has announced it is ceasing operations and filing for State Receivership as an alternative to bankruptcy.

The shutdown impacted the company's entire workforce of 200 employees, including full-time and part-time workers and contractors. The decision was conditioned on the company's ability to raise additional capital.

According to Frontdesk CEO Jesse DePinto, the company would be filing for a state receivership as an alternative to bankruptcy.

Citing the global macroeconomic conditions, Big Tech firms and startups across the spectrum have sacked employees, and layoffs continue to happen.
