San Francisco, California-based Levi Strauss & Co., an iconic clothing company with a worldwide reputation for its Levi's brand of denim jeans, has announced plans to exit its Denizen brand, cut back on off-price sales, and reduce its global corporate workforce by ten- to fifteen percent.

The workforce reduction will impact approximately 500+ employees and is expected to be completed by the first half of 2024.

The incoming president and CEO of Levi Strauss & Co. noted, “We have a strong pipeline of newness and innovation launching this year to fuel consumer demand. And I am confident in the significant growth opportunities ahead for this company including accelerating international growth, becoming a denim apparel lifestyle business, and leading with direct-to-consumer marketing."

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?

We have invested almost a billion dollars, underscoring our dedication to preserving its legacy and securing its future. Today’s decision is painful for all, but it is imperative that we act urgently and take steps to build a sustainable and thriving paper for the next generation. We are committed to doing so. We are saddened to have to take this step and thank you for your work for the Los Angeles Times.”

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT KENCO

Chattanooga, Tennessee-based Kenco, a third-party logistics supplier offering supply chain, fulfillment, distribution, transportation, and material handling solutions, has announced the closure of its warehouse facility in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The reduction in force will impact 110 employees with separations scheduled for March 19, 2024.

Some suggest that the decision was driven by the company's relationship with Westchester, Illinois-based Ingredion, a corn refining and food ingredient company, operating at the same address. Both companies refuse to comment.
