AM I NEXT? WISHING YOU AND YOURS A MERRY CHRISTMAS 2024

To all my readers…  Merry Christmas!

I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones the very best for the coming Holiday Season.

To everyone else…

Please accept with no obligation, expressed or implied, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2021, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. This is, of course, neither to suggest nor imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country; also, this is not to imply that "America," as noted herein, is the only America in the Western Hemisphere. May these heartfelt wishes be received with equal intensity regardless of distribution of individual wealth, documented carbon footprint, or perceived social privilege among the wishes addressed herein. This wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith, or sexual preference of the wish.

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT NOVA BUS

Saint-Eustache, Quebec-based Nova Bus, a transit bus manufacturer, has announced the company is exiting bus production in the US market and closing its Plattsburgh, New York manufacturing and delivery facility by 2025.

The phased closure will impact 191 employees and be complete by March 14, 2025.

According to company statements, “The strategic decision to end bus production in the U.S. by 2025 was made after evaluating its profitability, which was experiencing continued financial losses over the years. Although this strategic decision is a difficult one, by changing our business model with a focus on Canada, we will improve profitability and secure our long-term competitiveness. We will do the utmost to support our employees, many of whom have been employed for numerous years. We will work together with our sister Volvo companies, surrounding businesses, local authorities, and communities to support our people in finding new employment opportunities”

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT IPG MEDIABRANDS

New York City, New York-based IPG Mediabrands, an advertising/public relations/marketing agency, has announced a post-merger reduction in its workforce after the loss of a client.

The personnel adjustment will impact 103 media-buying employees located in Los Angeles, California, and is scheduled for January 2, 2025.

According to a company spokesperson, “Regrettably, we informed a portion of our team about the need to reduce our workforce in light of a recent client loss. We are committed to supporting the transition of those impacted by providing resources, severance payments, and continuation of benefits. These decisions are the hardest ones to make in our business, and we are grateful for the many contributions this team has made during their time with IPG Mediabrands.”
