AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT WEBASTO USA

Auburn Hills, Michigan-based Webasto USA, an automotive parts manufacturer specializing in sunroofs, electric car chargers, and air-conditioning systems, has announced the continuation of its restructuring initiative and the closure of its Rochester Hills, Michigan, plant.

The closure will impact 244 employees commencing on February 21, 2025.

According to a company statement, “Webasto launched a ‘broad-based program’ at the beginning of 2024 to improve its business results. The supplier performed an analysis of the Americas region production network and found that ‘it does not make economic sense for Webasto to continue operating the Rochester Hills plant, which was established in 1974.’ It is the oldest plant from a technological perspective in the Americas region. A significant investment would be required to continue manufacturing roof systems at this location at competitive prices.”

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn’t happened yet doesn’t mean it won’t. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
