AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT HAWAIIAN AIRLINES

Honolulu, Hawaii-based Hawaiian Airlines, the commercial U.S. airline acquired by Alaska Air Group and the largest operator of commercial flights to and from the island state of Hawaii, has announced a post-merger integration reduction-in-force.

The reduction will impact 252 nonunionized employees. Some of these reductions are expected to take place around September 18, 2025, the one-year anniversary of Alaska Air Group’s $1.9 billion acquisition of Hawaiian Holdings. Another key separation date will come 30 days after the Federal Aviation Administration grants a single operating certificate to the combined carriers.

According to a company spokesperson, “These employees have been aware of this milestone and have done meaningful work to integrate our airlines in the first year of our combination, helping us deliver greater value to our guests.”

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT CEF SOLUTIONS

Fort Lee, New Jersey-based CEF Solutions, a business process outsourcing, staffing, and consulting firm, has announced a reduction in force.

The reduction will impact 108 employees located in Greenville, South Carolina, who will be permanently eliminated by August 31, 2025.

Considering that the outsourcing industry is volatile, the layoffs are likely related to a business closure, contract loss, or other customer-driven event.

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT UC SAN DIEGO HEALTH

San Diego, California-based UC San Diego Health, a nonprofit, fully integrated healthcare delivery system operating several regional hospitals and clinics, and affiliated with the University of California, San Diego, has announced a 1.5% reduction in force.

The reduction in force will impact 230 employees, including pharmacists, clinical social workers, and clinical laboratory scientists working in the blood bank

According to a company spokesperson, “The decision was made solely in response to mounting financial pressures caused by federal impacts to health care, regulatory uncertainty, and rising costs of providing care combined with reimbursement rates from Medicare, Medicaid, and insurers that fail to keep pace with the true cost of care.”
