AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT EDWARDS VACUUM

New York-based Edwards Vacuum, a manufacturer of vacuum pumps and exhaust gas systems for the scientific, medical, industrial, and semiconductor industries, has announced the closure of its Hillsboro, Oregon production operations.

The closure will impact 140 employees and will commence on November 15, 2025, and will continue through June 30, 2026. The company plans to retain other Hillsboro operations, including sales and customer service,

The stated reason for the closure is "changing business needs.”

According to a company spokesperson, "Edwards will consolidate production across existing Edwards manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and the U.K., making the company better positioned for the current business climate and for future growth.”

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
