AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT ONX HOMES

Carrollton, Texas-based Onx Homes, a manufacturer of pre-fab, factory-built storm-proof homes and structures, continues their restructuring that includes the gradual winding down of its robotics-driven factory in Pompano Beach, Florida, and its “plug-and-play bathroom pods" facility in Homestead, Florida.

The wind-down will impact 137 employees in Pompano (30 employees) and Homestead (107 employees) manufacturing facilities, resulting in layoffs between December 14, 2025, and December 28, 2025.

According to the company, "This effort is a strategic response to current housing market challenges, including higher costs and slower demand. The company is also shifting its focus to address cost, speed, and resilience in its building process. These external factors have made it increasingly difficult to sustain operations at our current scale.”

“As part of our broader strategic restructuring, we are gradually ramping down staffing levels and production volumes at both facilities and other operational sites to align with current market conditions.” We remain proud of the innovation and efficiency that our technology has brought to the homebuilding industry.”

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT MAUSER PACKAGING

Oak Brook, Illinois-based Mauser Packaging, an industrial rigid packaging solutions provider, including drums, pails, and can containers, has announced the closure of its striking Chicago Little Village plant.

The closure will impact 168 employees, commencing on November 21, 2025.

With no comment on striking workers, a spokesperson noted, "The closure comes after a 'thoughtful evaluation' as this Chicago site faced 'a range of operational challenges' and shifting market dynamics, such as lower demand and heightened competition, the spokesperson said. The company therefore determined this site 'no longer aligned with our broader strategy to optimize resources and efficiently allocate capital for the benefit of both our company and our customers.'”

President and CEO Mark Burgess commented, “Closing this facility was not an easy decision, especially knowing the effect it has on our team members, their families, and the surrounding community.”

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT TEXAS SEMICONDUCTORS

Dallas, Texas-based Texas Instruments, the iconic semiconductor and calculator manufacturer, has announced the closure of its 150-millimeter wafer fabrication operations in Dallas and Sherman, Texas, in favor of the newer 300-millimeter wafer production.

Approximately 400 employees will be impacted by the changeover.

According to a company spokesperson, “We regularly look at how we can operate more efficiently and best support the company’s long-term strategy. As a result, we made some organizational changes last week that impacted some of our employees. These changes include reaching the final steps of our planned, multi-year transition to close our remaining 150-millimeter facilities in Dallas and Sherman."

"These are difficult decisions, and our priority is to support our long-term employees through these changes. TI’s long-term commitment to North Texas, including our investments in our newest factories in Sherman, remains unchanged."
