AM I NEXT? WISHING YOU AND YOURS A MERRY CHRISTMAS 2025

To all my readers…  Merry Christmas!

I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones the very best for the coming Holiday Season.

To everyone else…

Please accept with no obligation, expressed or implied, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2021, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. This is, of course, neither to suggest nor imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country; also, this is not to imply that "America," as noted herein, is the only America in the Western Hemisphere. May these heartfelt wishes be received with equal intensity regardless of distribution of individual wealth, documented carbon footprint, or perceived social privilege among the wishes addressed herein. This wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith, or sexual preference of the wish.

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT SAINT FRANCIS HEALTHCARE SYSTEM

Cape Girardeau, Missouri-based Saint Francis Healthcare System, a nonprofit Catholic health system, the company has sold its Poplar Bluff campus and associated clinic operations to Missouri Highlands Health Care, a nonprofit community-focused provider.

Approximately 231 employees are impacted by the sale. Layoffs are scheduled for January 30, 2026.

President & CEO of Saint Francis Healthcare System Justin Davison noted, “While this change marks a new chapter, our commitment to compassionate care in southeast Missouri remains as strong as ever. We are confident this transition will bring long-term benefits to the community and strengthen health care access for years to come.”

Change is constant, and it's coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT I SQUARED LOGISTICS LLC

Holly Springs, North Carolina-based I Squared Logistics LLC, an Amazon Delivery Service Partner, has abruptly ceased operations in the Wake County town of Garner with little or no notice and initiated a mass reduction in force.

The reduction impacted 161 delivery drivers and related support staff.

According to a company statement, “Advance notice could not be provided because circumstances arose that were not reasonably foreseeable at the time notice would otherwise have been required. The circumstances leading to the employment loss developed rapidly and outside ISQU’s control."

Amazon issued a statement, “I Squared Logistics decided to exit the Delivery Service Partner program. When a DSP exits the program and transitions occur, we focus on minimizing disruption for customers while helping affected delivery associates find opportunities with other DSPs in the area. This typically involves hosting job fairs and directly connecting them with hiring DSPs. Many delivery associates can transition to new roles with minimal disruption.”
