AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT META

Menlo Park, California-based Meta Platforms, a technology company that owns and operates several prominent social media platforms and communication services, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Threads, has announced a major reorganization to focus on AI technologies, resulting in a massive reduction in force.

Approximately 10% of Meta's employees, or approximately 8,000 employees, are affected and will receive the following termination email, companywide.

The email to the unfortunate employees who were eliminated...

As previously shared, we have decided to reduce headcount as part of our continued effort to run the company more efficiently and to allow us to offset the other investments we're making. Unfortunately, your role has been eliminated as part of today's reorganization. Before sharing additional details, we want to thank you for all you've contributed to Meta. We appreciate the important role you've played in the company's journey.

We understand you will have questions as you process this news. Please read below to learn more. We also encourage you to view the Alumni Portal (Meta.com/alumni), which you can access within an hour of losing system access and has additional information and resources to assist you. More information about the Alumni Portal is below.

Non-working notice period

From today through [redacted] (your "Termination Date"), you are in a "non-working notice period." During this time, your internal access will be removed and you do not need to do any additional work for Meta.

You will continue to accrue PTO until your Termination Date, and your remaining PTO will be paid out in your final paycheck at the end of this period. During the notice period, you will be paid "Notice Pay," which you will see on your payslips and is the same amount as your salary.

Leave of absence (if applicable): Your employment will end on your Termination Date that was communicated to you. Any leaves of absence will end on your Termination Date. Please note that to the extent applicable, you may still continue to receive disability benefits after your separation date if your disability meets the disability plan requirements.

Your benefits and compensation will continue through your Termination Date. You will continue to receive your full salary and benefits through your Termination Date, as well as any RSU grants that have vested on or before your Termination Date as provided in the Equity Incentive Plan. To support you in your job search, you will also have access to three complimentary months of external job search assistance through Lee Hecht Harrison ("LHH"), as further detailed in the enclosed LHH Outplacement Services flyer.

Severance details

Attached is a non-signable version of a Separation Agreement with full details of your individual package (do not sign this version). A signable Separation Agreement will be sent to your personal email address from [redacted] later today with full details of your individual package.

You must sign your Separation Agreement to receive your severance payout.

If you do not receive an electronic signable Separation Agreement by the end of the day tomorrow on your personal email, please check your spam folder. If you still haven't received the agreement, please submit a case via the Alumni Portal. (Note: If you apply for and accept a different position at Meta no later than one week prior to your Termination Date, you will remain a Meta employee and therefore this Separation Agreement will be void and you would not be eligible for severance under the terms of the Severance Plan.)

As a Regular Employee (FTE), you're eligible for the following severance offer:

Severance payment of 16 weeks plus two weeks for every year of completed services, minus your notice period. Please see the cover sheet of the attached Separation Agreement for more details on this calculation.

Payment of COBRA (health insurance) premiums for you and your family (if they are dependents on your current plan) for 18 months.

Immigration (if applicable)

We know this is especially difficult for those whose visa and work authorization is sponsored by Meta. The Alumni Portal has general immigration guidance to help address your immediate questions. The guidance also contains the contact information for your assigned law firm. You can also open a case via the Alumni Portal if you have specific questions about your case.

System access and office information

Since you have entered a paid non-working notice period, your badge has been deactivated and your access to internal Meta systems will be removed this morning. If you are already in the office, we ask that you please gather any personal items at your desk and head home. If you have personal items that need to be retrieved, instructions are available on the Alumni Portal.

Getting more information

We know this is a lot to process, so we've compiled resources about pay, benefits and other considerations for you in the Alumni Portal. You can access the Alumni Portal within an hour of losing system access today as mentioned above. You will need your employee ID, which is provided at the top of this email, to access the site.

Finally, we want to say again that we're grateful for your contributions. Your impact at Meta has been an important part of our story.

Sincerely,

Meta Leadership

Change is constant, and it's coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT CISCO

San Jose, California-based CISCO, the iconic technology corporation that develops, manufactures, and sells hardware, software, telecommunications equipment, and other high-technology services and products focused on networking, cyber security, and AI, has announced a 5% reduction in force as it allocates resources to AI, security, and networking.

The reduction in force will impact up to 4,000 employees. This is not the first major layoff for the company, considering:

  • Wave 1 (Feb 2024) ~4,000–4,250 employees (~5% of workforce) First major restructuring round tied to cost-cutting + slowing demand

  • Wave 2 (Aug–Sept 2024) ~5,600–6,000+ employees (~7% workforce) Second major cut in the same year, focused on efficiency + AI pivot

  • ~4,100 employees cut in late 2022 (~5% workforce), marking the beginning of the post-pandemic “right-sizing” cycle for Cisco

According to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Chuck Robbins

Team,

Today we announced our Q3 FY26 earnings with record revenue of $15.8 billion, up 12 percent year over year, and double-digit top and bottom-line growth. The ELT and I could not be prouder of the growth you have all delivered for Cisco.

These results are even more impressive given the complex environment we’re operating in – a rapidly changing market, with intensifying competition, and a global shortage of components critical to support our portfolio and the AI buildout from our customers.

The companies that will win in the AI era will be those with focus, urgency, and the discipline to continuously shift investment toward the areas where demand and long-term value creation are strongest. I’m confident Cisco will be one of those winners. This means making hard decisions – about where we invest, how we’re organized, and how our cost structure reflects the opportunity in front of us.

With this, we are making changes today that will result in the reduction of our overall workforce in Q4 by fewer than 4,000 jobs, representing less than 5 percent of our total employee base. Most notifications will begin on May 14 and continue globally in alignment with applicable local laws and regulations. For employees whose roles are impacted, leaders will share details directly – including timing, available resources, support, and benefits in each country. This will include pro-rated payment of FY26 bonuses to impacted employees. We will provide support in finding new opportunities, whether internal or external, through Cisco’s placement services – a program that has seen 75 percent of participants discover their next role. We are also committed to continued personalized learning and will provide one year of access to all Cisco U courses and certifications, covering AI, Security, Networking, and more.

While we are reducing roles in some areas, we are making clear, strategic investments – particularly in silicon, optics, security, and in our employees’ use of AI across the company. These investments are building from a position of strength – and focusing on the technologies and businesses that will accelerate our growth, deliver unmatched innovation to customers and partners, and define our future.

To those leaving Cisco, thank you for your contribution, your dedication, and the mark you have made on this company. We are deeply grateful and are committed to handling this transition with the care, clarity, and respect that defines our culture.

For those who will continue here, we will discuss these changes and answer questions at the Cisco Beat on May 21 at 8 a.m. PT.

We have important, impactful, and consequential work ahead. Your focus, resilience, and leadership are vital to our growth and relevance in FY27 and beyond.

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT ACRISURE

Grand Rapids. Michigan-based Acrisure, a global financial technology and insurance company, has announced a reorganization to implement AI in the organization, along with an 11% reduction in force.

The reorganization will impact 2,250 employees in phases beginning presently and continuing into 2027. This is the second mass layoff attributed to Artificial Intelligence, following the axing of 400 accounting employees in October 2025.

According to CEO Greg Willians...

Dear Colleagues,

I want to share an important update about Acrisure’s future, one that reflects the exceptional company we have built together and the next chapter ahead. As we enter a new phase of execution, I want to be clear about where we are headed, what is changing, and what it means for our company and our colleagues.

Over the past 13+ years, your talent, commitment, and entrepreneurial spirit have helped build Acrisure into a $5 billion global fintech organization. That success is real, meaningful, and something we should all be deeply proud of. I have never felt more confident in our long-term prospects and our strategic direction.

Advances in technology, AI, and digital platforms are fundamentally changing how businesses operate, how clients expect to be served, and how value is created. We made our first scaled AI investment in 2020, and as other leading organizations accelerate in this direction, we must continue to push the pace.

As we look ahead, we need to increase revenue growth through greater connectivity, tighter alignment, and continued investment in technology. As I’ve noted many times, the intensity and rate of change will forever be different. The greatest risks we face are not acting decisively enough and seeking comfort in the way things “used to be.”

This next chapter requires us to continue advancing Acrisure as a technology-enabled company. Our future is not merely about doing the same work in a di erent structure . . . it’s about changing how work gets done.

That means:

• Combining our deep human expertise with the power of our technology platforms

• Using AI, data, and automation to reduce manual work and create faster, more consistent outcomes

• Building digital capabilities that make it easier for our teams to serve clients and support one another

We are already seeing what is possible when we change how work gets done, and our Forward Deployed Engineering model is producing meaningful results. We have seen client-oriented work that took days or weeks reduced to minutes. We need more of this thinking and broader adoption across the company. Leveraging technology must be the core of how we operate, how we grow, and how we deliver value to clients every day.

To fully realize our potential, North America Insurance will organize more intentionally around our lines of business while operating as one unified enterprise. This will allow us to bring deeper expertise, greater consistency, and more speed to how we serve clients across the organization.

Transformation at the scale required cannot be done incrementally – and it requires difficult decisions. As part of this process, we will be reducing our headcount by approximately 2,250 roles. This process will begin today and continue in phases into 2027. The reduction represents approximately 11% of our total workforce and will primarily impact U.S. based operations.

This decision affects colleagues who have contributed meaningfully to building Acrisure, and was not taken lightly. It was driven by how work must evolve as we build the company we need for the future.

To those impacted, I want to express my sincere gratitude for your valuable contributions. We are committed to treating you with care and respect throughout this transition, including comprehensive severance, extended benefits for a period of time, and dedicated outplacement support. Our leaders and HR partners will be available to provide guidance and assistance, and we will continue to communicate as openly and transparently as possible.

To those continuing the journey, this is a di icult moment, but Acrisure is exceptionally well-positioned for the future because of the foundation we’ve built together. The work ahead is serious, and expectations are high. Building a unique and scaled fintech company, which can lead in an era of AI, technology, and transformation, is not for the faint of heart and requires focus, resilience, and conviction.

We’re doing the right things, and we must execute with greater alignment, stronger entreprenurial spirit that has always defined who we are. The moment requires a special commitment and intentionality, so “thank you” for staying focused and daring to do what others won’t. I’m grateful beyond words for your partnership and leadership.

Sincerely,

Greg Williams
