Lapeer, Michigan-based Lapeer Industries, a job shop specializing in machining, fabricating, tooling, and prototyping, has filed a WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) notice with the State of Michigan indicating the company’s intentions to lay off approximately 160 employees. The layoffs might also result in the closure of one or more of its four facilities. According to Lapeer Industries CFO Michael Billings, “the manufacturer has not been able to secure new business to replace a large customer program which was completed in December, nor has it been able to secure working capital funds needed to keep its operations running.”
