Fountain Inn, South Carolina-based AVX Corporation, a subsidiary of Japan-based Kyocera and a manufacturer/distributor of advanced electronic components, has announced a four-phase layoff plan at their Sun Valley, California facility that will commence September 27, 2019 and will result in the layoff of 103 employees when completed. This includes design engineers, manager, supervisors, machine operators and assemblers.
Previously the company announced 92 layoffs at the recently acquired American Technical Ceramics and moving its thin-film products group from its Jacksonville, Florida plant to the company’s existing facility in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
In announcing its preliminary first quarter results, the company noted that “our various distribution channels experienced weaker activity as inventories remain extended. The economic environment is in flux, and uncertainties with respect to international relations and trade regulations continue to put pressure on the global economy.”
Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, or promises for a bright future. Just because something bad hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
