Hutchinson, Minnesota-based Hutchinson Technology, a high-volume manufacturer of precision electromechanical components and assemblies for computer disks, has announced a downsizing initiative resulting in a 56% reduction in force.
The personnel realignment will impact 237 employees at the company's manufacturing facility in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
The decision is driven by fluctuations in customer demand and the replacement of mechanical disk drive assemblies with solid-state devices without moving components.
